Deb Rosenbaum

A native of Denver, Deb holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of California and completed graduate study in art education at Florida International University and Metropolitan State College in Denver.   She chaired the art department at Hannan High School in New Orleans for 9 years, developing curriculum for studio art, art history and Louisiana history.   While serving as Director of the Kauai Academy of Creative Arts in Hawaii, she received state grants to develop arts integrated curriculum for public elementary schools.  She has taught elementary, middle and high school art.

Deb employs sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and assemblage in her artwork. Her narrative work explores childhood, memory and personal obsessions.  Her works are part of the permanent collection of Hawaii’s State Foundation for Culture and the Arts and she currently shows work professionally in New Orleans and Denver.  Deb is the recipient of art study fellowships from the Surdna Foundation (2010), National Endowment for the Arts (1995, 2009), the National Endowment for the Humanities (2003 and 2008), The Fund for Teachers (2007), the Japan Memorial Fulbright Fund (2006), Chicago Art Institute (2005), and the Kansas City Art Institute (2005 and 2009).  She served on the Public Art Committee for the City of Denver for four years, and is currently a member of DSA’s School Leadership Team, Collaborative School Committee and the Friends Foundation of DSA.    This is her 9th year as Director of the Visual Arts Department and her second year as Arts Department Chair at DSA.
