Stagecraft & Design Updates

Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!

We are very excited to get the new year started and look forward to having students return tomorrow!  Many of our students have been hard at work on building sets, lights, costumes and sound for the upcoming production of Chicago which opens in just a couple of weeks.  If you haven’t bought tickets yet to see Chicago, we highly recommend you purchase them soon.  The show is about half sold out already.  You can purchase tickets at:

Back to School Night – August 22

During the Back to School Night sessions we will be providing many updates about the activities we have planned for the program this year.  We will be covering the handbook (Click here for the 2019-2020 Handbook) as well as talking through expectations and schedules for productions.  Please be sure to attend during the scheduled times.  We will be meeting in the Schomp Theatre for our two major blocks:  7:08-7:36pm for 9th and 10th grade students – Periods 5 & 6; and 7:41 – 8:10pm for 11th and 12th grade students – Periods 7 & 8.  During Back to School Night we will also have a sign-up sheet for parent volunteers for different activities we have going on this year.

King Soopers Fundraiser

Thanks to everyone who has been using the King Soopers refillable cards to help raise money for our department. Recently, King Soopers has modified the program so that you can use your own KS loyalty discount card instead of needing to load money onto a refillable card. After the initial step of enrolling online and linking your loyalty card to our account, this should make it even easier to help raise money for our department because you will not have the extra step of loading money onto the card.

To Use the King Soopers or City Market Community Rewards Program:
Please visit the link below:
For King Soopers Stores – go to
For City Market Stores – go to
Once logged into your King Soopers or City Market account, click on the “Community Rewards” link, search for “Denver School of the Arts – Stagecraft and Design” either by name or input the code: GW652 and then click Enroll.

King Soopers users who don’t have an online account will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address, and a loyalty card to affiliate with your account.

Please note: Customers must have a registered King Soopers or City Market loyalty card account to link to our organization. If a member does not yet have a King Soopers or City Market loyalty card, they are available at the customer service desk at any King Soopers or City Market.

REMEMBER, purchases will not count for our organization until after participants register their loyalty card. Participants must swipe their registered King Soopers or City Market loyalty card or use the phone number that is related to their registered King Soopers or City Market loyalty card when shopping for each purchase to count.

Summer Internships

Many of our upcoming Seniors worked on their Internships over the summer.  Here is an update on the activities from Jen Kubik, our CareerConnect Internship Coordinator:

Congratulations to the CareerLaunch Summer interns! The summer was busy and productive. These students shined as DSA representatives and I am very proud of all of them!

Raven Gallivan interned with Phamaly Theater as a costume assistant. She was a dream intern her supervisor said. She has been hired on as a dresser for their run of Chicago at the DCPA.

Jami LeBouef interned with Cleo Parker Robison Dance as a sound technician. Along with running and editing sound for various projects, she was part of a team that built and programmed a robotic arm to work the light or sound board remotely.

Ben Fellows-Mason interned with Youth on Record. He had a great time learning and running the different sound equipment while there.

Thank you for your support of the program!
