Recruiting Students for 2017-18

Our recruiting efforts have gone well this year. Our student organization has presented at several local 8th grade classrooms and the district-wide 8th grade career fair. The Open House on November 10 was well attended and we are preparing for Portfolio Workshops on December 7 & 14.

The deadline for the online applications is Friday, Nov. 18 at noon, so please continue to share about the Stagecraft & Design Department with neighbors, friends and colleagues. Encourage any students that are interested in Technical Theatre to apply!

We are still in need of a few more parents to volunteer to call families of prospective applicants to share about your experiences with the department and answer questions that parents have about DSA. If you are able to help with making calls, please send an email to Jonathan Howard ( Calling lists will be sent to parent volunteers on Nov. 21. Thank you!

Haunted House

Our Seniors put on another successful Haunted House this year.  Here is a photo of our spooky crew:

Fringe Festival Trip

Here is a note from Theatre teacher Shawn Hann regarding the trip this summer:

Hello Stagecraft & Design Majors – we have a few spots let for the Fringe Festival Trip with the theatre department this summer. See this link for details:

As of now, we have 10 Stagecraft & Design majors registered and 57 Theatre majors registered. We’ve had 8 students drop the trip if you would like to join us at this time.

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the largest performing arts festival in the world. There are about 2000 shows performing during the month of August. The technical aspects of these shows are also amazingly thought out as we have five minutes to set up our tech before we perform.  DSA Alumni, Austin Allen, BFA in Theatrical Design from Southern California University, will be our Technical Theatre Director. The trip dates are July 27- Aug 14.

Please email Ms. Hann ( if you are interested in joining us!

King Soopers Gift Cards

We really need your help!  A primary way to fundraise for Stagecraft & Design is by using a King Soopers gift card. You don’t need to make any additional donations or sell cookie dough or candy–just reload your card every time you shop at King Soopers. Five percent of your purchase is donated to our major. Help us meet our goal to get a donation of $250 from King Soopers every single month. It’s really easy–just get into the habit of loading your card. You can even reload them at the self-checkout lanes and use them to pay for gas, beer, or liquor at the stores that sell those items. Get cards for your kids, spouses, and even out-of-town relatives who shop at Kroger stores. If you need a new gift card or have any questions, please contact Dianna at: or 720-244-4467 (cell).

Thank you for your support of the department!
