The Piano Department of DSA is an unusually diverse group of talented pianists, their teachers, and their parents. We’ve been honored to include students from all over the world, including The Czech Republic, Thailand, Taiwan, Venezuela, Vietnam, China, Mongolia, and the United Kingdom. Our graduates attend or have attended some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in our country, including Berklee School of Music, The University of Denver, Oberlin Conservatory, Indiana University, The New School, New York University, University of Puget Sound, University of Pennsylvania, University of Colorado, Mills College, the Peabody Conservatory,The New England Conservatory, Sarah Lawrence College, and The Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Current and former students have won prestigious awards in the Steinway, Yamaha, and other competitions. Some have participated in competitions sponsored by the American Guild of Organists. Others compete in the Guild Auditions of the National Fraternity of Student Musicians. Our High School class participates in The Piano Celebration every year at Metro State, and, many of our students are accomplished in other artistic disciplines, such as acting, singing, and dancing.
We participate in every aspect of the musical life in our city. We are lovers of learning and lovers of music, especially music for the piano.

To be included in our email communication, please contact Mr. Lassen at director.dsa.piano@gmail.com The Piano Department email list is confidential and will be used only for departmental communication. We especially invite our private teachers to be included on our e-mail list. This is a great way to keep track of deadlines, classroom concerns, social events, and performances. Please join us!

Current and prospective parents and students (ONLY) may use Mr. Lassen’s school e-mail address, ted_lassen@dpsk12.org. Please use this address for issues that might require administrative assistance. Our Parents Group maintains an independent e-mail contact list, which serves as a means for parents to organize in service of the department and make direct contact with one another. It is different in several ways from the departmental contact list regarding scope and confidentiality. Mr. Lassen and the DSA Piano Department are not responsible for messaging on this e-mail list; however, you are encouraged to join. INFINITE CAMPUS
Denver School of the Arts and Denver School of the Arts Middle School use Infinite Campus as their web-based gradebook. Please contact the DSA Counseling Department for passwords and usernames to access IC.
Parents and students should check IC regularly to keep track of classroom progress. Parents will receive automatic e-mail notifications of failing grades and missing assignments from IC on Saturdays. Please contact Mr. Lassen with concerns you may have about grades.
